Win an authographed poster from Lamppost Reunion! and more Sopranos newsThis entry was posted on 10/19/2008 9:01 PM and is filed under Sopranos Premiere Parties,The Cast of The Sopranos,Sopranos Events,Anything else I find interesting. It's getting cold here in Jersey, but that's to be expected, summer is over. Steve Schirripa (Bobby Bacala) has always been one of my favorite Sopranos. It was announced in Variety that he will play the character of an loan shark in ABC Family telepic “Your Presents Requested.” Congratulations! Another Soprano cast member news. Sarah Shahi who played the stripper Sonya Aragon, Tony Soprano hooked up with in Las Vegas in the episode "Heidi and Kennedy" and did some psychedelic mushrooms with has been cast in the NBC series, "Life." She plays a LAPD Detective in the series. One of the best shows around, "Mad Men" which is produced by Sopranos writer Matt Weiner, has been signed on for a third season with AMC. The show won an Emmy for Best Dramatic series. Jamie Lynn Sigler (Meadow Soprano) will do a guest appearance on HIMYM (How I met your Mother), according to Entertainment Weekly. Edie Falco (Carmela Sopranos) has been cast in the Showtime series, "Nurse Jackie", the Buzz Sugar website, has one of the first images of Edie in character in this new television series. Ms. Falco will also participate in LAByrinth Theater Company's "Celebrity Charades: We Will Rock You" benefit on Oct. 20. The event will take place at Terminal 5 (610 West 56th Street, at 11th Avenue). For more information visit labtheater.org . Remember Little Steven's (Silvio Dante) Halloween A Go Go? His record label Wicked Cool Records has released a compilation of songs and goodies, which fall under this category. The Fort Lauderdale Film Festival, will be screening the movie, "The Last New Yorker" which features Dominic Chianese (Uncle Junior Corrado Soprano). It will screen from Oct. 24 to 27 at AMC Coral Ridge, located at 3401 N.E. 26 th Street. This is the first year I didn't make this event and I really feel bad. Vincent Curatola was the Grand Marshall of the the Annual National Kidney Foundation walk held at South Street Seaport. This is always such a wonderful event.
I found out the scoop about some of these shows, which by the way are selling out quick (so if you are planning on attending, I wouldn't hesitate purchasing tickets. There are several performances, which were designated to a couple of charities, and the neat thing about going on one of these nights, is you probably will have the opportunity to hob nob with some really famous people, see a fantastic show, and a small intimate setting (its a small theater). The November 13 show, will benefit the World Hunger Year Foundation started by Harry Chapin. Vinny mentioned several names who will probably be attendance that night, Cousin Brucie, Tom Chapin, and a few musicians, who by the way I saw at Giant Stadium (different shows at different times). So, if you are looking to go and support a really good cause, this would be a good night to go. Tickets for the November 13 performance can be purchased here. Another charity performance will be on November 17 for Vinny's favorite charity The Lustgarten Foundation for Pancreatic Cancer. This performance will include a reception starting at 6 pm. For ticket information please contact Suzanne Beck at 516-803-2913 or click here. Included is a "meet & greet" with members of the cast. Celebrities are also expected at this event. The Lustgarten Foundation is also having a raffle where you and a guest can have dinner with 2 of the cast members of the play at DiNapoli, NYC* or a Frank Sinatra Photo taken and autographed by famed photographer George Kalinsky. To purchase a raffle ticket click here. Pretty exciting I'd say! To enter the contest to win one of the signed posters, click here. |
